Model Release Form

How do I sign up?
Send an email to Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com and ask to be added to the model or photographer list. I want you to sign up for the list so I have an idea of how many people will be participating, and to make it easier for me to send everyone the latest information.

When should I arrive?
The photo shoot will run from 9am to 4pm on Saturday 3/19. The photographers can setup their equipment and the models can touch up their makeup and hair and change into their first outfit, and we will start shooting around 9:30am. There is plenty of parking in the school parking lot.

Venue Info
We will be shooting in the school gym, and outside if the weather is nice.

Model Info
We are looking for subjects that are willing to pose for us in exchange for pictures of themselves. There is no cost to model. Modeling experience is a plus, but not necessary, our photographers will help you figure out a few poses that work well for you. Many models get on the Internet before the shoot and look at modeling sites to find poses that they want to try during the shoot. Every photographer that takes your picture will give you their best 5-10 images of you from the shoot, and you can use them however you like. The photographers will also have the right to use any pictures that they take of you however they like. Most of the pictures are used in portfolios (online and offline) and on social media sites. This is a great opportunity to fill out a portfolio as there will probably be about 15 photographers that want to take your picture. Every model will sign a Model Release Form for this event that describes this arrangement and gives us your contact information so we can get your pictures to you. Some photographers will put your pictures on a CD and mail it to you, but most will upload your pictures to a website and you can download them. The photographers should make your pictures available within 30 days. Please keep a list of all photographers that take your picture. If you haven't got your pictures from every photographer in 30 days, send me an email and I will ask the photographer to get in touch with you. I recommend bringing 3 outfits so you can get a variety of shots, but the number of outfits that you bring is up to you. If you are filling out a portfolio you will probably want more outfits. Different photographers may want to shoot you in different outfits, depending on their style and taste. You are encouraged to bring costumes and props if you want them in your pictures. Do your makeup and hair before you come if possible. Bring makeup for touchups and a hair brush/comb and mirror to retouch your hair. Photographers can clean up loose hairs in post processing, but they appreciate hair that is neat. Models can come and go at anytime. You can break for lunch and go to one of the restaurants nearby if you like, or you can bring a lunch. Models and photographers tend to wear out by the end of the day, and I find that the best shots are often taken in the morning. We will try to limit our sessions to about 1/2 hour. This means you could work with 16 different photographers with different styles, tastes, and equipment if you pose for as many photographers as possible. If you have fun at the model shoot and want to do more modeling, the Fort Collins Digital Camera Club has a special interest group that specializes in model/portrait photography. They meet every month to photograph models in different venues, outfits and styles. We are all developing our skills, but some of the images are amazing. Be sure to tell Mike Barry if you are interested in modeling for the Portrait group.

Photographer Info
Ridgeview is letting us use their gym for free, so there is no cost to participate. I will have a Yongnuo flash setup with Cowboy Studio Triggers that will work with most Sony, Canon and Nikon DSLRs. I want to help anyone who wants to learn about portrait photography and show them how to use flashes. They should be able to use one of my triggers to take their own portraits. I also plan to take a few pictures of models when I have time. Hopefully someone will show members how to use studio lights and give them a chance to use a studio light setup. We can all help with posing models. I plan to demonstrate how my flash setup works and help if the photographers or models want help. Every photographer is required to give each model that they photograph their best 5-10 pictures of the model within 30 days. If something comes up and you can't get your pictures to the model in time, please contact them and work something out. We will try to limit our sessions to about 1/2 hour. This means you could work with 16 different models if you shoot as many models as possible. This is a great way to improve your techniques and add to your portfolio. Photographers can come and go at anytime. You can break for lunch and go to one of the restaurants nearby if you like, or you can bring a lunch. Models and photographers tend to wear out by the end of the day, and I find that the best shots were often taken in the morning. If you don't have a lot of experience posing models you can ask others for posing help and I suggest that you get on the Internet and look at a few modeling sites for posing ideas. I don't know how much control we will have over the lights, so bring a flashlight. You might want to bring a floodlight even if you are going to use speedlights, so your camera will have enough light to focus. If the weather cooperates you can shoot outside using natural light.

Please email Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com if you are coming to the shoot
