SIG Meetings/Outings

Portrait SIG - 8/7 1pm-5pm

Macro SIG - 8/13 @8am
"We will be shooting flowers at the CSU gardens on Saturday, 13 August. The gardens are located at 1401 Remington St, Fort Collins. Russ will be there starting at 0800. Everyone is welcome to come. Hope to see you there. Please note, they are doing construction on Prospect street so you will need to get there via an alternate route." - Russ

Wildlife SIG - 8/27 @8am
The scheduled August Wildlife SIG outing will be Saturday, August 27, at Prospect Ponds Open Space. This outing will be primarily to shoot butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. However, there may be some other wildlife around. Prospect Ponds OS parking area is located on Prospect just east of where Prospect crosses over the Poudre River. Start time will be 8:00 am. This may be close-up photography but it is not macro photography as our subjects rarely let one get close enough to use a macro lens. I have used my 70-200 on occasion but I find my 100-400mm zoom to be a better choice. When shooting butterflies and dragonflies, rarely can I get closer than 4' with 5' to 6' more the normal working distance. I sometimes use a tripod or monopod other times I don't. That is a personal choice. Since there will be nop carpooling for this event, no real need to let me know beforehand if you plan to attend. If one is late, just wander around, we shouldn't be hard to find. - Guy

Photography 101 - 8/27 @8am to 10am
We will be meeting at the Fairgrounds Park in Loveland, 700 South Rail Road, about 2 blocks south of 1st St. and Railroad. This will be a good opportunity to look for repeating lines, patterns, light and shadow, shapes and whatever you can come up with. I will be available to offer suggestions and answer questions. For the new people, I will be working you on the basics. - Gary
