Topic: Ancient skies through ancient eyes
Meeting Notes
Where: Coloradoan Newspaper Offices, Community Room 1300 Riverside Ave., Fort Collins

Club Outing

Sat 3/18 - 7pm Light painting at Benson Sculpture Garden - I'm telling everyone at the meeting Tuesday to meet at 7:00 p.m. If it isn't quite dark yet...good to get bearings. If dark, then good also for light painting. I've got a map to show Tuesday to indicate to meet at the parking area on Aspen Dr on the west side of the gardens. Lots of good sculptures and the building. Other good subjects at SE corner of gardens. Was there the other night checking it out and got decent results even though I've never done it and was only there about 15 minutes. The gardens are open till 10 p.m and there are no internal lights, so flashlights for painting and marking where one walks area definite necessity. - Bob

Wildlife SIG Outing - 3/18 @5:55am - Rocky Mountain Arsenal - Bison, Deer, Raptors
Time seems to have a habit of going by way too fast. Just realized earlier today that the first FCDCC Wildlife SIG Outing is this coming Saturday, March 18. The outing will be down to the Rocky Mtn. Arsenal NWR outside of Denver. The primary target of photographers at RMANWR are the Bison, however there are also Mule and Whitetail Deer, Eagles, Hawks, various waterfowl and if one is very lucky you might see a Black-tailed Ferret. RMA is one of the Ferret reintroduction locations. They were released along the newer 8 mile wildlife drive. There is a large Prairie Dog colony about midway around the new loop on the right side of the road. Since the Prairie Dog is the Ferret's primary diet, that would be a good place to look. For car pooling down to the arsenal, let's meet at the NE corner of the Harmony Rd. Transportation Center at 5:55 am so we can leave at 6:00. Sunrise on Saturday is listed as 7:06 am. The drive there takes a bit less than an hour. As always, so we do not leave anyone behind, let me know if you will be participating. Guy
