Kevin Cook ProjectKevin Cook’s infectious enthusiasm for the natural world has been contagious throughout Northern Colorado for the past several decades. His work as a naturalist, author, lecturer, seminar leader and field trip tour guide is well-known and highly regarded. Kevin has a continuous and growing need for great images to populate his year-long Library Talk series slide shows in Fort Collins and Loveland. These “biological literacy,” natural history slide presentations will be expanded to senior centers and numerous local, assisted living facilities in 2016. Every photographer has a desire to share and have his/her images seen by an increasing number of people. As we each learn from one other and share our expertise through Club outings, meetings and other activities we have an opportunity to partner with Kevin Cook, providing him with images for his nonprofit educational presentations and providing us with a wider audience for our photos. As the Portrait SIG has has risen to the challenge and excelled in our partnership with the Homeless Prevention Initiative over the past several years, this proposed partnership with Kevin Cook will require more community involvement by members of our Wildlife, Landscape and Macro Special Interest Groups. Kevin Cook will be our guest speaker at our January 12, 2016 monthly meeting. He will outline the subject content of his Library Talk series for the next two years, clarify his needs and technical requirements for photos and discuss how we can get involved. He will also provide us a specific shot list in advance, which we can use for our Monthly Challenge Photo Topics. Rich Ernst will develop a website and instructions how to upload our photos for Kevin’s use. I have provided a one-page FCDCC agreement to Mike Barry for posting on our Club website so you can sign-up and choose under which conditions Kevin can use your photos and how you will be credited for them.
