2011-03-08 FCDCC Meeting Notes

The March outing will be Saturday/Sunday 3/19-3/20 in the Platte River Valley of Nebraska. We will be shooting pictures of Sandhill Cranes.

We had 7 guests attend the meeting: Wendy, Cassandra, Seth, Dave, John, Cindy and Karen. Please excuse my spelling, I made my best guesses.

The "Library Beginner Digital Photo Workshop" was a big success. We had 75-80 attendees and about 12 club members. The room was full, and the feedback from Norm at the library and from some of the attendees was very positive.

Annual dues were due in January for 2011, $20/single or $30/couple for 2011. Please pay our treasurer, Rich Ernst, at the next meeting you attend.

Bob is collecting photos for the club portfolio. He would like up to two 8"x10" prints from each member. Our plan is to show the club portfolio to local businesses when we ask for wall space to display photographs. We expect the businesses to be more interested in our photography if they see something they like in the portfolio.

Andrew donated a new unopened version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, and the club will be auctioning it from our website. Please take a look at the "Used Equipment for Sale" page for details.

Our informal outing for March will meet at the Whole Foods Market on College north of Drake on Wednesday 3/23 at 9am.

Please look over your entry on the Members page and send me information to update your information and photo. Also send me links to any galleries that you want linked from our website. We randomly display pictures on the website Home page, so send me your best picture (1 per club member).

Dawn has organized the March outing to the Sandhill Crane Migration. Dawn has made reservations at the Microtel Inn for two nights, and sunrise blind reservations for the Rowe Sanctuary, and sunset blind reservations at the Rowe Sanctuary. There is 1 spot available in the blinds, and it will be cancelled soon, so contact Dawn ASAP if you want to go on the trip. You will have to arrange your own motel reservations as we have filled the original block of reservations. Be prepared for muddy weather, hot weather, cold weather. Harry, Bob, Guy, Dawn and Carol have volunteered to drive. (Riders typically pay for gas.) Saturday night is a full moon. We will be meeting Friday 3/18 at 10am at the Harmony Transportation Center (on Harmony near I25). For more details...

Our April outing will be the Annual Model Shoot on Saturday 4/16 from about 8am-3pm. Bob will find a location (possibly the Masonic Temple). Tony will ask models and makeup artists (from Model Mayhem) to attend the model shoot. We typically trade pictures for model time.

Our May outing will be a Utah landscape trip 5/19-5/22. We will be camping out. We may need to make reservations depending on where we decide to go, so start thinking about whether you will be attending.

Andrew Stiff gave a great presentation on "Adobe Lightroom 3".

The photo subject for next month is bird photography.

Next month's meeting will be in the same room: room 316 of the Natural Resources Building on Tuesday 4/12 at 6:30pm. You can always find when and where our next meeting will be: http://www.fcdcc.com/meetings.php

We don't have a fix-it-photo for this month yet, so I am looking for a few volunteers. If you have any pictures that might work for a fix-it-photo, please email one to me.

Please email me any additions or corrections to the meeting notes so I can keep everyone updated with the most accurate information.
