2017-01-10 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in the Community room of the Coloradoan Newspaper, 1300 Riverside Ave. Fort Collins.

Please welcome the visitors who were visiting our club.

Please pay your dues for 2017 to Rich Ernst at the next meeting if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join.

Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

Please send your SIG outing schedules to info@fcdcc.com so I can add them to the website.

Send your photograph submittals to Walter Lyons at photoeditor@fcdcc.com. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Walt has time to create the slideshow. We also accept short videos for the slideshow.

February meeting challenge topic: "Love and/or Hearts", send your pictures to photoeditor@fcdcc.com

Please send Fix-it-photos to Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com.

Guy mentioned that if you are 62 or older you need to get your life time National Park Passes soon. The price of these passes is about to go up soon. You can get them at Rocky Mountain National Park or in town at the Forest Service Offices.

Walt pointed out that TWAN.org is a good place to find night photography.

We discussed what we should do for our February meeting including a desire to hear about color correction and possibly feedback from the HPI portrait shots.

The February club outing will be a Macro shoot at the CSU Geology Lab.

Sat 1/14 @7:45am - our alternative outing will be to the Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield. We will meet at the Harmony and I25 Transportation Center, North East corner of the parking lot at 7:45AM. Bring your camera gear in a warm cooler so it doesn’t fog up when you enter the Pavilion.

Tue 1/17 @6:30pm - Photoshop SIG Meeting - at Ken Eis' house

Tue 1/24 @9am - January Coffee Meeting - Fort Collins Coffee House on Mason

Sat 1/28 10am-4pm - Bath Bird Festival - at Bath Nursery

Many thanks to Sarah Lindsay for her presentation on natural light portrait photography.

Also thanks to Ken Eis for taking the meeting notes.

Just for future reference: We use the projector that The Coloradoan provides during our meetings, and it requires an HDMI connector if you plan to use your own laptop for your presentation. If you don't have an HDMI connector, you can put your presentation in PDF format on a USB memory stick and play it on the laptop that we use for the club information.

Email Mike, info@fcdcc.com, when you find mistakes, missing information or if you have suggestions for the website and I will try to address the issues.
