2017-08-08 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in the Community room of the Coloradoan Newspaper, 1300 Riverside Ave. Fort Collins.

Please welcome any visitors who were visiting our club.

Please pay your dues for 2017 to Rich Ernst at the next meeting if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for a spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join.

Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

Please send your SIG outing schedules to so I can add them to the website.

We are adding a new SIG for "Drone Photography" that will be lead by Steve Eis. I will add details to the website when they are available.

Send your photograph submittals to Walter Lyons at Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Walt has time to create the slideshow. We also accept short videos for the slideshow.

September meeting challenge topic: "Festivals", send your pictures to

Please send images (Fix-It-Photos) that you would like everyone to try "Fixing" to Mike Barry at

If you don't already have a headshot on the website, please send one to Mike Barry at

Bob is looking for volunteers for the "Who is this?" section of future meetings, send email to if you are willing to give a short presentation.

We need a new President Elect as Bob Gobeille may not be able to serve next year. If you are interested please email Bob Babbs at

We will be electing officers for 2018 at the September meeting, so think about volunteering for one of the club offices. Volunteer officers keep our club running.

We also need a new leader for the Landscape SIG. Please email Bob Babbs at if you are interested.

We also need a new leader for the Experimental SIG. Please email Bob Babbs at if you are interested.

Many thanks to Dawn Wilson for her amazing presentation on "Wildlife Photography in Colorado".

Just for future reference: We use the projector that The Coloradoan provides during our meetings, and it requires an HDMI connector if you plan to use your own laptop for your presentation. If you don't have an HDMI connector, you can put your presentation in PDF format on a USB memory stick and play it on the laptop that we use for the club information.
