2012-11-13 FCDCC Meeting Notes
We met in a different room at Ridgeview Classical School
Ridgeview Classical School on the southeast corner of Lemay and Stuart (1800 S. Lemay) Enter through the east side of the building.
We had several visitors at the meeting tonight, Betsy and David, please welcome them to our club.
Please pay your dues for 2012 to Harry Strharsky if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18.
Check out what the SIGs (Special Interest Groups), they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.
Continue sending photograph submittals for the meetings to Bob Babbs at bobbabbs@aol.com.
We need to elect a "President Elect" for the club. The President Elect for this year will become the club President next year, and they are expected to cover the President's responsibilities if the President is not able to attend a meeting or outing. If you would like to be the President Elect, or would like to recommend someone for the position, just send an email to info@fcdcc.com.
We also need a volunteer to run the User Presentations portion of the club meetings, basically creating and running the Powerpoint slideshow of Fix-It and favorite images.
Our October Club Outing has been rescheduled for 11/16 at 6pm. Meet Pat Gaines in the Pawnee Grassland. [I\'ll set up the telescope in a little dirt parking lot in the Pawnee National Grasslands so we can get away from the city lights. Take Mulberry (CO 14) East from I-25 for 27 miles. Just after mile marker 166 there is a three way intersection with CO14, CR90 and CR57. Turn left (north) onto CR57 and pull into the dirt parking lot on the right, about 30 yards from the intersection. I\'ll be there by 6 PM, and if the weather holds I\'ll stay there all night, so people can show up literally anytime. I set up the scope there last night and actually had cell phone reception, although it was a bit weak. My cell phone number is 970-581-1597 in case anyone has any questions or gets lost. - Pat Gaines]
