Wildlife SIG Outing - Saturday May 26 @6am, Wildlife SIG Outing to Denver City Park Rookery, meet at the Harmony Transportation Center to carpool and leave at 6am
"The May Wildlife SIG outing will be Saturday, May 26. We will be going down to City Park in Denver to photograph the various birds at the rookery on the small island in the lake. In an average Spring there are probably around 75-100 nests on the island for; Cormorants, Snowy Egrets, Black Crowned Night Herons and occasionally Cattle Egrets. Though the Rookery is on an island, one can get as close as 25 yds to the island so a really long lens in not particularly necessary. There will also be shots of the various birds as they fly by carrying nest building material. I realize that is Memorial; Day Weekend, but the Colfax Marathon this weekend precludes a visit this weekend as the surrounding roads are closed for the race. This is an early morning shoot as by about 9:30/10:00 in the morning the sun is high enough to make photographing white birds difficult. For carpooling we will be meeting at 6:00am at the north east corner of the Harmony Transportation Center off Harmony Rd. As always please let me know you will be coming so we do not leave anyone behind at the parking lot." -Guy
