Club Outings

Milky Way shoot at the Paint Mines Near Colorado Springs on Friday 6/7
Pam Jordan has organized a club outing for Friday June 7 to shoot the Milky Way at Paint Mines Interpretative Park (https://communityservices.elpasoco.com/parks-and-recreation/paint-mines-interpretive-park/, around 35 miles northeast of Colorado Springs). This will be one day after the new moon on Thursday June 6. The plan is to drive from Fort Collins to the park during the afternoon with the intent of arriving a bit before golden hour. There will be a walk of about 1 mile (downhill going in, uphill while leaving) to a position to shoot the Milky Way during the night.
Because of the distance (about 110 to 120 miles), it is recommended to stay in Colorado Springs that night, then return on Saturday morning.
Pam has obtained a permit to shoot there overnight, and this permit will be paid by the club. However, members should organize their own transport/lodging arrangements, collectively (e.g. carpooling) or otherwise. The permit limits the group to 10 people, and the park will require that anyone going to sign a liability waiver. Please note that in the event of bad weather, the outing will be canceled and there is no provision for rescheduling. This is because the permit date is unfortunately not transferable.
If you are interested in going, please send an email to Pam Jordan at pam.jordan2013@yahoo.com She will contacting participants about the liability waiver and getting license plate numbers to issue parking permits.

Mike Barry will be leading this outing to the Never Summer Rodeo in Walden. This is a small town rodeo and they are very photographer friendly. 11am - Stop for lunch in Walden at the "All Smoked up BBQ" 508 Main St. (+1 970-218-4626)

~ 6pm - Leave for Fort Collins when slack is done
Please contact Mike Barry if you plan to carpool with us. We will be leaving at 8:30am, so plan to get there a bit early to arrange the carpool.
