Fine Art SIG outing to the Fort Collins 1883 Water Works
I am inviting you to join us and photograph the Water Works.
WHAT: Fort Collins 1883 Water Works
WHERE: 2005 N. Overland Trail in Fort Collins
WHEN: Saturday 5/11 at 10am
URL: https://poudrelandmarks.org/water-works-tour
The historic Fort Collins Water Works will open this Saturday for the 2024 season. They have an open house with free tours on the 2nd Saturday of each month (May-October) from 10am to 3pm. The building and grounds have interesting artifacts to photograph, and the volunteers will show us around and tell us all about water and early life in Fort Collins. Accuweather is predicting a couple thundershowers in the afternoon, but the morning should be dry. This is a good opportunity for Fine Art SIG members or anyone to practice "seeing the beauty in ordinary things".
Let's meet at 10am at the Water Works, take a tour, photograph interesting things, and if anyone is interested we can go to Vern's for lunch about 11:30am or 12:00pm.

Watch live: CSU’s rare corpse flower poised to bloom for first time
There is a report that a rare “corpse flower” at a greenhouse in Colorado State University may bloom over Memorial Day weekend. While it has been on campus since 2016, it has never bloomed. Please see the link below and note that CSU will probably send out more details if the flower actually blooms. Credit to Joan Sayre for notifying us. (The link she found was a different one, but much of the text was copied from CSU’s original link that we have referenced here.) CSU’s link shows the expected open hours for the greenhouse should the flower bloom, as well as the address and parking information.

How Can You Tell if a Photo is AI Generated... Here are Some Tips (BEHIND PAYWALL)
Contributed by Albert Wang. Warning: National Geographic is behind a paywall, although you might be able to get access to a limited number of articles. The title is admittedly somewhat clickbait and is lacking in example images, but does have some interesting information.
