SIG Meetings/Outings

Landscape SIG - 4/23-24 Outing to the Paint Mines

Wildlife SIG - Saturday 4/16 - CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
The April wildlife outing will be Saturday April 16. The outing will be to Latham reservoir which is south east of Greeley, about a 35 mile drive. Latham is a privately owned irrigation reservoir. In the spring the south end is a marsh which attracts migrating wading birds and waterfowl. Some of the birds I shot there last year included; Avocets, Phalaropes, Black-necked Stilts, Yellowlegs, Dowitchers, yelllow-headed and red-shouldered Blackbirds, Egrets, half a dozed varieties of ducks, Pelicans and Harriers. Shooting is done from the county road that goes through the marsh. Subjects can be anywhere from 20 feet to 100 yds or more away. I was there two days ago to see what has moved into the area and saw; Blue-winged, Green-winged and Cinnamon Teal, Northern Shovelers, two pairs of Northern Harriers, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, along with pelicans. Other species should be arriving daily. For car pooling lets meet at the Harmony Road Transportation Center parking lot, at the north east corner at 7 a.m. It is about a 40 minute drive. As always, so we are not needlessly waiting, please let me know if you are planning to attend.
