We discussed composition
Several members submitted composition resources and I have placed links to the resources on the Resources page of the FCDCC website. We all talked about what we knew about composition, and Jim showed the presentation "Composing Good Photographs by Mark Levoy" while we discussed the techniques used in the images to create pleasing compositions.

We decided that the topic for our next meeting will be Frequency Separation
Frequency Separation is a technique where an image is separated into high frequency (texture and detail) and low frequency (color) layers. Each layer can be edited separately, and then both layers are combined to form the final image. It is commonly used in portrait photography, product photography and fashion photography but it can be used in many situations that require quick or precise editing.

Everyone has the homework assignment to research "Frequency Separation", study it and bring back some information for the group to discuss at our next Conceptual SIG meeting.
If you find some good Frequency Separation information online, tell me where it is and I will put a link to the information on our website. Rich has already sent me a link to Frequency Separation Image Clean-up - TK Quick Tip by Sean Bagshaw. Lisa Carney has a class on Frequency Separation at CreativeLive.com that is on sale for $11 and it is quite good. I have purchased it already. It covers much of what she presented in her two classes at the Photoshop Virtual Summit (which is available for a short time for $147).

Remember to check the Resources page of our club website for Frequency Separation information. https://fcdcc.com/resources.php

Everyone has a second homework assignment to create an image using some of the composition techniques that we discussed, and email it to Jim Limburg before the meeting (Sunday 12/13 at the latest) so we can talk about it at the December meeting.

Agenda for our next Conceptual SIG meeting 12/15/2020 at 6:00pm
1. The main topic will be "Frequency Separation"
Please research on your own so we can all discuss it at the meeting (optional)
2. We will pick a topic for the next meeting
3. We will discuss current projects
Show a project that you are working on (optional)
Ask for constructive criticism (optional)
If you don't have time to research the topic, or you don't have any project that you want to show or have critiqued, that is OK, you can just attend the meeting and participate when you want.

Jim Limburg will send out the Meeting ID, passcode, and meeting link when we have scheduled the meeting, which will be about a week before the meeting date.

Email Mike, info@fcdcc.com, when you find mistakes, missing information or if you have suggestions for the Conceptual SIG and I will try to address the issues.
