2012-05-08 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in our new meeting room at Ridgeview Classical School
Ridgeview Classical School on the southeast corner of Lemay and Stuart (1800 S. Lemay) Enter through the east side of the building.

We had several visitors at the meeting tonight, Joyce, Lee & Patricia, please welcome them to our club.

Send your pictures of the Loveland Feed and Grain to Jim Schuler if you haven't already sent them.

Please pay your dues for 2012 to Rich Ernst if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18.

Check out what the SIGs (Special Interest Groups), they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

Continue sending photograph submittals for the meetings to KenEis@comcast.net.

Liz Meyer has a show in Greeley, contact her for more information.

The Ridgeview Classical School Prom photo shoot went well. Thanks to everyone who helped out. I think the students enjoyed our work.

The May outing is the Old Town Model Photoshoot on Saturday May 12 at 320 Walnut St.. Photographers can arrive as early as 8am, the models will start arriving at 9am. We will shoot until about 4pm. We have plenty of space and we will have enough room for everyone. We can always use more models, so tell your friends about the model shoot. All models will receive a DVD of their best photos from the shoot. Bring your cameras, lights, stools and props. The cost will be $150 split between all the photographers that take pictures during the shoot (probably $10-$15). Ken and Jim have volunteered to show club members how to take portraits using their studio strobes during the shoot.

The alternate topic for May is animal portraits.

The May Coffee Outing will be Thursday May 17 at 9:00am at the Fort Collins Coffee House on Mason (used to be the Full Throttle Coffee Shop).

The Wildlife SIG will be camping out at Pawnee Buttes May 19-20, to photograph wildlife and the very dark Pawnee Grasslands night sky.

Our first Evening outing of the year will be June 1 in Old Town. Meet at the fountain in Old Town Square at 6pm.

Our club has volunteered to teach a "Night Time Photography" class for the Poudre Library District on 6/16, and to judge the accompanying photo contest. The rafting outing conflicts with the "Night Time Photography" class so Harry will investigate moving the rafting outing.

Our club outing for June will be "Poudre River Rafting". Harry is investigating moving the date from 6/16.

We have scheduled another Vacation Photo Show for June 28 at 6:30pm at Mulligan's on College. Send your pictures to Dawn at least several days before the meeting so she has a chance to add them to the show.

Many thanks to Andrew for his presentation on "Portrait Photography".
