2014-03-11 FCDCC Meeting Notes We met our normal room at Ridgeview Classical School Please welcome April, Randy, Jeff and Michelle who were visiting our club meeting. Please pay your dues for 2014 to Harry Strharsky if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join. Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills. This month send your photograph submittals for the meetings to Gerry Cashman at gcash357@gmail.com. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Gerry has time to create the slideshow. The club members should try out some of the new features that Rich Ernst is proposing that we add to the club website, Forum, Photo Gallery, and Calendar. These tools can help our membership communicate, but they require much more effort to keep running. In a couple months we will ask the membership if they want to add these features to the club website, or replace the club website with a Joomla version, or if they prefer the current website and implementing the Forum, Photo Gallery and Calendar in external tools like Google+. We need volunteers to help out with a few Ridgeview Classical Schools events: We need photographers and helpers at each of these events.Ridgeview helps us a lot by providing a meeting room for free so we should help them out when we can. The March alternate topic is "Colorado Landscapes". 3/15 St. Patrick's Day Parade in Old Town Fort Collins 3/22 March Club Outing - John Fielder Gallery in Denver and Sunrise at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Meet at the Harmony Transfer Station at 5:45am, or the museum at 6:45am, or at the gallery at 11am. John Fielder's gallery is located at 833 Santa Fe. 3/26 March Coffee Outing - 9am at the Fort Collins Coffee House on South Mason. 3/30 March Wildlife SIG Outing - Wildlife Sanctuary in Keenesburg. Meet at the Harmony Transfer Station to carpool to Keenseburg, time TBD. 3/30 9am-1pm National Geographic Seminar at the Denver Art Museum, cost is $110/person. Dawn is organizing Sage Grouse/Prairie Chicken/Sandhill Crane outings. Mid March to late April is their peak season. Please contact Dawn if you are interested. 4/8 LPS is sponsoring a trip to take pictures of wild horses in the San Luis Valley. Please contact Ken Eis if you are interested. 4/19 April Club Outing - Portrait/Model Shoot in Old Town Fort Collins. You should come to this event even if you aren't a portrait shooter, we will help you shoot a few portraits, and maybe we can convert you. I still have to rent the venue, but I expect we will be shooting at the Old Goodwill Building on Walnut. 4/24 Travel Slideshow - time TBD at Mulligans on College Ave. Please send your images to Dawn by 4/19 so she can add them to the slideshow.
