request from the museum: The Greeley Freight Train Museum was ecstatic to have our group visit on Saturday, Jan. 22. The museum is currently working on two projects: new web site, and a 2012 calendar. They were interested in having us submit any photos we would like to have considered for these projects. The executive director, who is the person to send the photos to (contact info below), has guaranteed the photographer will receive credit for the photos but no compensation. location: Lobby of CSU Natural Resources Building (This is the building where we have met lately for the club meetings.)

- Arches National Park, Devils Garden Campground is sold out
- Dead Horse State Park Campground is sold out
- Warner Lake Campground in National Forest is sold out
- Canyonlands National Park: 26 sites are available in Needles District & 12 sites are available in Island in the Sky District, all first come first served
- Negro Bill Camping Area: don't know much other than it is outside of Arches National Park
- Drinks Canyon Camping Area: don't know much other than it is outside of Arches National Park
- Many more options outside of Arches and a few down Colorado River towards Canyonlands National Park
- Wing it or reserve ahead? If reserve, is there a price goal? Camping? RV?

Part 1/2 of the rescheduled Portrait Shoot (models)
location: Primrose Studio on Michaud Lane
Limited parking will be available
Photographers meet at 7:30am in the Foothills Mall parking lot, where Birds Unlimited was, then carpool to Primrose studio to minimize parking space requirements.
Models can park in the parking lot at the Primrose Studio building at the end of Michaud Lane, west of the Reservoir Ridge Natural Area parking lot. Map to studio
Photographers Set Up Equipment and Models Prepare: 8am - 9am
Photo Shoot: 9am - 1pm (no lunch break)
Cost: $10/photographer

Roxborough State Park
location: Roxborough State Park - Littleton, CO
focus: landscapes, clouds
When: Saturday, June 18; 3:00 a.m. for sunrise
Note the time change!
Meet: NE corner of the Harmony Transportation Center parking lot; sunrise is at 5:32 a.m.; drive is 1.5 hours and then a ¼ mile hike to the Fountain Valley overlook; we will leave at 3:30 a.m. so please try to arrive a few minutes earlier
Cost: $7 per vehicle fee to enter park
Directions: Take I-25 S to exit #207B/Santa Fe Drive onto US-85 S; Head south on Santa Fe (Highway 85) to Titan Road. (4.2 miles south of C-470 intersection) Turn right (west) on Titan Road. Continue heading west on Titan Road. It will curve and begin to head south—becoming North Rampart Range Road (3 miles). Continue south on North Rampart Range Road past Roxborough Village and the Foothills Water Treatment Plant (3.5 miles). At the intersection of North Rampart Range Road and Roxborough Park Road, turn left onto Roxborough Park Road. Take the next right (about 50 yards away) to enter the park.

notes: The prison is open 9:00am to 6:00pm, and they charge $5 per person. There are many indoor and outdoor photo opportunities. |
