2011-11-09 FCDCC Meeting Notes
We had a few new members at the November meeting. Please welcome Jim, Bill, Deb and Susan. If you are interested in joining our club, please contact Mike Barry (info@fcdcc.com) to add you to the website and email list. You can find us at most of the club meetings and outings.
The Homeless Prevention Initiative Photo Shoot will be Saturday 12/3 at the Plymouth Congregational Church (916 West Prospect). We have scheduled 8:30am-10:00am for setup, 10:00am-12:00pm for portrait shoots, 12:00pm-2:00pm for portrait shoots, and 2:00pm-3:00pm for takedown. We need photographers, posers, and helpers. Please contact Rich Ernst (treasurer@fcdcc.com) if you are willing to help out, he will be organizing the shoot this year. We still need help in the AM or the PM shifts. Photographers will need to process their pictures by 12/13 so they can bring them to the next club meeting, or get them to Rich some other way if they aren't going to be at the club meeting. The pictures have to be judged, selected, printed, packaged and ready to be handed to the families on 12/22.
Dawn suggested creating another Special Interest Group for "Photography Business & Marketing". Several members were interested, but we decided to wait for the other SIGs to get going before starting another. Keep this SIG in mind for next year.
Our November outing is this Saturday, 11/12, to the Poudre Canyon for ice and bighorn photography. Meet at 9:00am Saturday morning in the northwest corner (by Chase Bank) of the North King Soopers' parking lot to arrange carpools. This is the King Soopers that is on North College, north of Jax. 1842 North College Ave. Bring a lunch.
Our November coffee meeting will be Tuesday 11/15 at 9:00AM at the Full Throttle Coffee House. We will try to get out and take some pictures, but we might just talk about cameras.
Our December club meeting will be 12/13.
Our December club outing will be 12/17, night time and holiday lights photography in Denver.
Our January outing will be to Bosque del Apache to photograph the sandhill cranes and has been scheduled for Jan 20-23, 2012. The outing will be focused on birds, wildlife, landscape, sunrise, sunset, architecture, and history. Dawn has reserved 11 rooms with 2 double beds each for $99/night. She has suggested an itinerary of Saturday all dayand Sunday morning at Bosque del Apache, Sunday afternoon at an observatory in Ghost Ranch Albequerque to photograph "Satellite Dishes". More info to come...
Dawn wants information from the SIGs regarding the outings, presentations, and topics that they are responsible for, before November 16. These plans are subject to change.
Stephanie brought in the club hats. They look very nice. The club ordered an additional 3 hats that haven't been committed to anyone yet, so if you want a club hat talk to Stephanie or Bob Babbs. We will be ordering more hats n the future. Thank you Stephanie.
Nicole brought in the club business cards. Pick up a dozen or so to hand out to interested individuals. Thank you Nicole.
Thanks to Gerry for his presentation on creating slideshows with a musical background.
