2013-04-09 FCDCC Meeting Notes
We met in the band room at Ridgeview Classical School

Please pay your dues for 2013 to Harry Strharsky if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18.
Check out what the SIGs (Special Interest Groups), they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.
Continue sending photograph submittals for the meetings to Bob Babbs at bobbabbs@aol.com. We are looking for a new volunteer to handle the photograph submittals. If you are interested please contact Bob. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing.
We need to elect a "President Elect" for the club. The President Elect for this year will become the club President next year, and they are expected to cover the President's responsibilities if the President is not able to attend a meeting or outing. If you would like to be the President Elect, or would like to recommend someone for the position, just send an email to info@fcdcc.com.
The Northern Colorado Astonomical Society (NCAS) will setup their telescopes and possibly a few cameras on Friday 4/12 at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area, starting when it gets dark enough. This is a good chance to use a good telescope and see some interesting things in the night sky.
The April outing is a visit to the Denver Zoo on this Saturday, 4/13. Meet at the Harmony Transport Center at 8am Saturday morning, and we will carpool to Denver. The zoo is open from 9am to 5pm, and there is a $15 entry fee ($12 for people over 65). We usually stay for about a half day then get lunch somewhere before heading home. If you want to stay longer you should make sure you are carpooling with others that want to stay longer.
Dawn is organizing a trip to Wray, CO to photograph prairie chickens, 4/13-14. The town of Wray charges $100 for the prairie chicken tour. Contact Dawn if you are interested.
The April Architecture SIG Meeting will be Sunday 4/14. We will carpool to Denver for the Open Doors Denver event. Many historic homes and buildings will be open for us to photograph. This event is free. Email Bob Barley if you want to go with us.
We have scheduled a Travel Slideshow for April 18, 6:30pm at Mulligans on College. Send your pictures to Dawn Wilson ASAP. She will try to add them to the slideshow.
The April Coffee Outing is Wednesday 4/24 at 9am at Truman's Coffee Shop on Harmony.
We have scheduled a product shoot at a Tim O'Hara's studio for Saturday 4/27.
Address: 1929 WCR 56 80524
Directions:
Basically the south east corner of 56 and Taft hill 2 miles north of 287. So Taft north to 56 then right first drive on right barn behind the house
The April topic is wildife and the alternate topic is FEATHERS.
Ridgeview Classical School's Prom is Saturday May 4, 2013. We need 3-4 more candid photographers and 1 more person to help Ken with the posed portraits. Andrew's technique worked well last year, having a helper hold a flash on a monopod and a photographer to take the picture. The team can switch tasks so both members can take pictures if they want.
The May Club meeting will be a picnic at Rolland Moore Park, shelter #2, May 14 from 6pm-10pm. Ken reserved the shelter for $60.
The May outing will be to the Great Sand Dunes National Park (5/17-5/20). Dawn has reserved rooms at the Inn of the Rio Grande for $89/night. If you want to camp out you should reserve a campsite at the National Park ASAP. Guy mentioned that the nearby State Park will probably have plenty of sites, although it is not as nice.
Dawn Munro shared a brochure of classes offered by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. They have a class coming up, $135 for 2 days.
Many thanks to Matt Davies for his presentation on "How to Setup a Home Portrait Studio".
Email mike, info@fcdcc.com, when you find mistakes, missing information or if you have suggestions for the website and I will try to address the issue.
