2013-08-14 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in our regular room at Ridgeview Classical School
Ridgeview Classical School on the southeast corner of Lemay and Stuart (1800 S. Lemay) Enter through the east side of the building.

Please welcome Jim, Sherry, Eileen, Ann, Shikha, and Gary.

Please pay your dues for 2013 to Harry Strharsky if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join.

Check out what the SIGs (Special Interest Groups), they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

This month send your photograph submittals for the meetings to Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com. We are looking for a new volunteer to handle the photograph submittals. If you are interested please contact Bob. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or less pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so I have time to create the slideshow.

We will be accepting nominations for club officers at the October meeting and holding our elections at the November meeting. Please consider running for a club office.

August Club Outing - It was last week! We went to RMNP to photograph the night sky.

August Coffee Meeting - We will meet at the Fort Collins Coffee House (on Mason) on Wednesday 8/21 at 9am. We usually drink coffee, talk about photography, and often go somewhere local to take pictures.

August Evening Outing - We will meet at the CSU Trial Gardens (on College) on Thursday 8/29 at 5pm. The flowers should still be in full bloom.

September Club Outing - Custer Bison Roundup
We will be staying at the Super 8 motel in Custer, SD. Dawn has reserved 8 rooms with 2 double beds per room. Contact Dawn to cofirm that you will be going to the Roundup and staying at the Super 8. If you want to share a room please find a roommate and tell Dawn. We will be leaving the Harmony Transfer Station at 8am on Thursday 9/26. Eat breakfast before we leave, plan for lunch on the road. Contact Dawn if you want a press pass, you will probably need to verify your media credentials.

The August slideshow went well and we will have another one soon.

The photographic topic for August is meteors.

September Coffee Outing - We will meet at the Dazbog on Cherry St. 9am on Thursday 9/19.

New West Fest is this weekend, Friday-Saturday-Sunday, 8/16-18.

New West Fest is a great opportunity to listen to and photograph local bands.

Our club will be judging the Library photo contest. You can see the entries on the Library website.

Ken, Rich and Guy are going to the Wave in December.
