Club Outings

Sat 2/18 @9am Macro Shoot at CSU
Date: Saturday February 18, 2023 Times: 9:00 am for those setting up subjects for the macro photo-shoot 9:30 am start of the photoshoot 11:30 am optional lunch break at local restaurant. 2:00 pm wrap up photoshoot
Location: Colorado State University, M. R. Smith Natural Resources Building, Rooms 345, 360 and 301. The map below is a close up of the area around the Smith Natural Resources Building. Parking: Please park in lot 350 or on Amy Van Dyken Way, see map. On weekends parking is free and time restrictions are not applicable. To reach the parking lot from South College Ave, from the south bound lane of South College Ave. turn right on to University Ave. Follow University Ave a little over 0.1 miles and turn right on to Libbie Coy Way. Then take your first left into parking lot 349. Drive to the westside of the parking area which is lot 350, see map. To reach the parking area from W. Laurel Street turn south on to South Howes street and follow to Oval Drive. Make a right onto Oval Drive and and follow to Amy Van Dyken Way, which will be on your right side. After a short drive on Amy Van Dyken Way Parking lot 350 will be on your left side. The map below maybe difficult to read. This is the URL to the CSU campus map: https://map.concept3d.com/?id=748#!ct/53279,46630,20377,13646,13645,13644,9554?s/ Natural Resources Building: From parking lot 350 or Amy Van Dyken Way take the sidewalk on the south side of the Forestry Building and follow to the Natural Resources Building. The appropriate door is on the northeast corner of the building, it is under a pedestrian bridge. Upon entering the building, the stairway and elevator will be on your right. There will be signs directing you to the photo-shoot location. Also, a loading dock is available for use by our club. Photoshoot subjects: There will be flowers and other objects to photograph along with backdrops of various colors.There will also be a light-box. In room 301 there will be fluorescence mineral specimens to photograph. If you have subjects for macro photography please bring them. Assistance: On the day of the outing, if you need help locating the photoshoot or assistance in bring materials to the photoshoot please call either Paul Marcoux (970-443-7610) or Jerry Magloughlin (office 970-491-1812, mobile 970-290-6630). The Plan: First Stop Sprague Lake which is great for catching the early morning light on the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Second Stop, Bear Lake has lots of ice and snow formations. Participants may choose to only do one of the lakes and may also decide to not do the short hike which would be less than 2 miles if we walk about both.
Meeting Place: 7:00am at the Safeway Parking Lot in West Loveland at 1451 W Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO 80537 Park pass or entry fee is required for each vehicle. Be prepared for very cold conditions. Please use sunscreen! Optional but highly recommended: hiking poles, micro-spikes and/or snow shoes if you have them. Plans may change depending on weather conditions. After the outing we can have lunch together in Estes park. I have several ideas as to where to go which can be decided on by the group. Join Heart-J Center’s outdoor guide and avid amateur photographer, Silas Binkley, for this monthly photography meetup and walking tour at Sylvan Dale Ranch! During these walks we will explore different areas of the Ranch while learning together, sharing tips and tricks on all things photography.
$10 for adults; no charge for 17 and under with accompanying adult
