Fine Art SIG Beginner's Flash Workshop - Sun 3/6 @1pm
FCDCC members,
The Fine Art SIG will have a two part "Beginners' Flash Workshop" and all FCDCC members are invited to both events.
On Sunday 3/6 starting at 1pm we will have the hands on portion of the workshop in my garage.
I will have a manual speedlight and studio strobe and remote triggers and some light modifiers for us to experiment with.
If someone wants to bring their automatic speedlight that would be great, then we can experiment with TTL and HSS too.
This will be a very basic hands on workshop to figure out how you can use your camera to control an external flash.
We won't be talking about composition or fine art or lighting styles, just the basics of flash photography.
On Tuesday 3/15 at 6pm at the monthly Fine Art SIG meeting on ZOOM, Andy Goris will explain how flash works in greater detail.
You can review Andy's presentation before the meeting, as it is already available on our club website at:
https://fcdcc.com/docs/2022-03-15-flashes-by-andy-goris.pdf
This is excellent information that beginners and experts will find useful.
Please email me, Mike Barry, if you want to join us.
Thanks,
Mike Barry

Macro SIG - March Macro SIG project
Hi Folks,
All FCDCC club members are most welcome to participate in the March Macro SIG project.
This month’s project focuses on using the characteristics of water and water plus other common household liquids to create interesting macro photographs.
Some ideas to prompt your thoughts
1. Water droplets on glass, flowers, twigs, etc. The droplet can acts as a fisheye lens that images subjects that are behind the droplet on glass or suspended droplet.
2. Ice or frost on glass, flowers and fruit in ice, snow flakes and snow on branches.
3. Bubbles and frozen bubbles, if we have another cold weather snap.
4. Steam from a hot beverage that is illuminated with colored light(s).
5. Cooking oil in water with a subject behind a glass container which holds the oil and water mixture.
The link below is to a YouTube video by Nikon Ambassador, Joey Terrill, on Macro Photography. The video has beautiful photographs and good ideas on Macro. There are examples of water droplets on glass and cooking oil in water. He has an incredible Macro Photography studio! The video is about 55 minutes long.

Please send your macro photographs to me by March 31. Please limit individual photograph file size to roughly 2MB.
Have fun!
