The FILM Act is Now Law! A Win for all NANPA Members
Groups with fewer than six photographers who are there to document permitted activities on National Park Service property will no longer need a commercial photography permit, regardless of whether any individual receives or intends to receive compensation for their photography or videography.

Biden Signs Law Making it Easier to Photograph and Film in National Parks
Groups with fewer than six individuals who are there to document permitted activities on National Park Service property will no longer need a permit, regardless of whether any individual receives or intends to receive compensation for their photography or videography. Allowable filming that does not require a permit must not negatively affect the experience of other park visitors, disturb the ecosystem or park’s resources, hinder other people’s access to the park, require a set or staging equipment, or violate any public use policies or regulations.

National Western Stock Show

Non-professional, non-flash still photography is permitted. Any cameras with interchangeable lenses or lenses larger than 100 millimeters in length are NOT permitted for use by anyone who does not have a valid Media Credential.
Photos taken at the National Western Stock Show are strictly prohibited from being reproduced or sold without written permission from the NWSS Marketing office management. Professional photographers and media may apply for a media credential here. If you have any questions, please call 303-297-1166.

Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS)
When: Monday 1/13 after sunset
Where: Southern Hemisphere
Guy Turenne had mentioned this comet during the January 14 general meeting. However, it most likely will not be safely visible to us as it is very close to the sun. Observers in the Southern Hemisphere may be able to see it after sunset after January 13.
Saturn-Venus conjunction
When: Friday 1/17 - Saturday 1/18
Where: Should be in the southwest sky shortly after sunset.
I had previously read that they would only be 1/2 degree apart (the width of the sun or moon) but this one says that they would be 2 degrees apart.

Estes Park Skijor is an action packed competition where a horse and rider pull a skier as fast as possible through a course including gates, jumps and obstacles. Estes Park Skijor combines Colorado's skiing heritage with its Cowboy roots, merging these two worlds into the best of both. Competitors race for cash and prizes throughout the weekend.
Polar Bear Plunge

Where: Horsetooth Reservoir, South Bay Swim Beach 4200 Cr-38e.
The plunge will take place in waves. Groups of 3-5 people will plunge at a time
