Club Outing to Denver Botanic Gardens

When: Thursday 6/5/2025 at 9:00am
Topic: "DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS FIELD TRIP" with Rick Dunnahoo
Where: Denver Botanic Gardens - 1007 York St, Denver, CO 80206
Contact Rick Dunnahoo for more info
Please join us for a fun relaxing morning at the Denver Botanic Gardens. We’ll spend the morning photographing the beautiful blooms and enjoying the fragrant smells and each other’s company. We’ll plan to arrive when the Gardens open at 09:00 and stay until about 13:00. I suggest arriving up to 30 minutes early to find parking. An option afterwards will be to have lunch as a group at a nearby restaurant before heading home. This outing is suitable for beginner to advanced photographers and will not be strenuous. You will need to purchase your ticket online prior to arriving - click HERE to go to their website for tickets and other info. Ticekts are available in timed entry blocks so be sure to select the 09:00 entry ticket! Camera Gear - tripods are allowed but please be mindful of other visitors and avoid blocking paths. I don’t recommend a large camera bag, again to avoid hindering other visitors. I will have a full frame camera, 100 F2.8 macro and a 70-200 to reach flowers that are just out of reach of the 100. I suggest you use sunscreen and a hat and dress appropiately for the weather. Bring water as water fountains are few. Contact me for any questions and if you will be joining us, please let me know so I can look for you. And send me your email and cell phone in case I need to contact you with a change of plans. 719-588-8748, RickDunnahoo@gmail.com. Looking forward to seeing you in the Gardens!

Landscape SIG Outing to Eldorado Canyon

Meeting time: 7:30 AM at JAX Outdoor Gear, located at 2665 W Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO near the South East corner of the parking lot. Let’s plan to be back in Loveland at around 4:00pm
Topic: Eldorado Canyon Photo Hike
Plan: We will carpool down to Eldorado Canyon State Park which is South of Boulder and 58 miles from our meeting spot at JAX. There is a per car entry fee $10 if you don’t have a state parks pass.
Details about the park can be found here:

I would like to hike the RattleSnake Gulch trail to the Craigs Hotel Ruins and the Continental Divide Overlook which is a spectacular and unusual hike. This is about a 3-mile hike round trip. We could also hike the 0.7-mile Fowler Trail which branches off of the RattleSnake Gulch trail. In addition to this there is really interesting stuff that can be seen from the car.
Parking is limited at the trailhead and we might need to walk a short distance to start the hike.
Here are details of this trail:
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/rattlesnake-gulch-trail--6
Equipment: This is a great area for just about any focal length lens. I plan to bring my 8-15mm fisheye, 24-105mm and probably my 100-500mm. For hiking gear, be sure to bring sunscreen, rain gear and plenty of water. This area is also known to have lots of poison ivy so shorts might not be a good idea.
Lunch: Let’s plan to have a late lunch in Boulder along the way home and snacks along the trail.
RSVP: Please let Ed know if you plan to attend: edogle@gmail.com
