2023-01-17 Fine Art Photography SIG meeting notes
We met online using ZOOM 6:00pm-8:00pm
The goal of our Fine Art Photography SIG is to help each other to create fine art from our photography.
The Fine Art SIG is a place where artists support each other and nurture creativity in others.
Unrequested criticism can feed an artist's fear of failure and stifle their creative growth.

OUR MAIN DISCUSSION TOPICS WERE "Frozen Soap Bubbles and Films" and "Christmas Lights with Bokeh Cutouts".
We had lots of good images, and discussion of how to shoot freezing soap bubbles and films. Our members also took some great Christmas lights with bokeh images. We discussed how some of the bokeh shapes were "clipped", but I don't think that we came to any conclusions regarding exactly what was causing the clipping. Please tell me if you do figure out what caused the clipping.
RESOURCES (Where you can find sources of inspiration)
Mike Hohol found an interesting discussion of "What is Fine Art Photography"

Here is some more information about custom bokeh cutouts

FINISH-IT-PHOTO
A couple of our members made fine art from the "Buddha's Hand" image. This was the last Finish-It-Photo, we will concentrate on more artistic activities.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIQUES AND PERSONAL PROJECTS
Several of our members discussed what the art projects that have been working on.
PICK A TOPIC FOR THE NEXT MEETING
We picked the topic "Winter Landscapes" for our next meeting. This includes nature as well as urban landscapes. When you show your pictures at the next meeting I want to hear what the goal was for each picture, and how you accomplished it.
Rich suggested that the ponds at Prospect Ponds Natural Area off Sharp Point Dr. in Fort Collins would make a nice subject.
AGENDA FOR OUR NEXT FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY SIG MEETING - Tue 2/21/2023 @6:00pm
1. The main topic will be "Winter Landscape".
2. We will hold constructive critiques (optional) Pick as many as 3 images that you would like critiqued, and be prepared to show them by sharing your screen during the ZOOM meeting.
3. We will pick a topic for the next meeting
If you don't have time to research the topic, or you don't have any images that you want to have critiqued, that is OK, you can just attend the meeting and participate when you want.
I would like to see more pictures from our Fine Art SIG in the regular club meeting slideshows.
Jim Limburg will send out the Meeting ID, passcode, and meeting link when we have scheduled the meeting, which will be about a week before the meeting date.
Please email Mike, info@fcdcc.com, when you find mistakes, missing information or if you have suggestions for the Fine Art Photography SIG and I will try to address the issues.
