2014-05-13 FCDCC Meeting Notes

We met in the orchestra room at Ridgeview Classical School
Ridgeview Classical School on the southeast corner of Lemay and Stuart (1800 S. Lemay) Enter through the east side of the building.

Please welcome Greg, Sam, Bob and Bill who were visiting our club meeting.

Please pay your dues for 2014 to Harry Strharsky if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for each additional spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join.

Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills.

We have a new Macro SIG leader... Russ Lawry. Check out the Macro SIG page for details.

The Lyric Cinema Cafe is showing the movie "Finding Vivian Maier" about one of the greatest street photographers of the 20th century. Last show is tonight, 5/15, at 8:30pm.

This month send your photograph submittals for the June meeting to Ken Eis at KenEis@comcast.net. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Ken has time to create the slideshow.

We need volunteers to help out with Ridgeview Classical Schools Graduation
Location: Summit View Church on Drake
Practice: Wednesday May 21 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Graduation: Saturday May 24 noon
I plan to take the graduation pictures, but I may not be able to attend, so I need a backup photographer that can shoot with me at the practice event and possibly take pictures at the Graduation. I also would like to have a couple candid photographers to take pictures of the students during the event. Ridgeview helps us a lot by providing a meeting room for free so we should help them out when we can. If you are willing to help please email Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com.

Please send in pictures for our "Fix-It-Photo" section. We need one more for 2014 and we can use extras for 2015.

Send suggestions for the events that the Events SIG should know about to Steve Finnestead.

Contact Lynne Lewis if you are willing to help out judging the annual Library Photo Contest in August.

The Ridgeview Classical School Prom went very well. Pat Gaines took formal shots, Stephanie Rein, and her helpers and Ken Eis worked the photo booth which the students loved. Mulyani Agustin, Mike Stauder and Ken Eis took candids throughout the evening. -Thanks for helping out.

5/17-18 May Club Outing, Camping at Vedauwoo, Wyoming
Meet at the Harmony Transportation Center (NE corner of parking lot) Saturday 5/17 at noon.
We will be camping in the Vedauwoo campground. There is plenty of other camping available nearby in case we can't get a site in the campgrounds.

Hotel rooms blocked: Aspen Mountain Lodge, 970.925.7650; $99 per night plus tax for two queen beds on garden level Will only hold hotel rooms until May 24; ask for Fort Collins Digital Camera Club group reservation. Campground sold out a month ago.

May 17-18 May Club Outing - Landscape and Star photography at the Vedauwoos. We will be camping out.

Many thanks to Pat Gaines for his presentation on "Astrophotography". I hope to post his presentation on the website so we can use it as a reference. I tried to take notes during the presentation in the dark, but I find that they are incomprehensible in the daylight.
