2018-04-12 FCDCC Meeting Notes We met in the Community room of the Coloradoan Newspaper, 1300 Riverside Ave. Fort Collins. Please welcome Don and Deanna who were visiting our club. Please pay your dues for 2018 to Rich Ernst at the next meeting if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for a spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join.` Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills. Please send your SIG outing schedules to info@fcdcc.com so I can add them to the website. Send your photograph submittals to Walter Lyons at photoeditor@fcdcc.com. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Walt has time to create the slideshow. We also accept short videos for the slideshow. May meeting challenge topic: "April Showers Bring May Flowers", send your pictures to photoeditor@fcdcc.com Please send images (Fix-It-Photos) that you would like everyone to try "Fixing" to Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com. If you don't already have a headshot on the website, please send one to Mike Barry at info@fcdcc.com. Many of our club members have expressed a desire to show their pictures in galleries. We do have pictures on display at the Fort Collins Coffee House. The Art Lab on Linden and the Carnegie Center for Creativity might be good places to display our pictures. Paul Marcoux has started a list of galleries and local businesses that might display our work. We need a few volunteers to help make contacts with the galleries and local businesses and gather information about costs, availability... The outing last month to Duraplaq went very well. Duraplaq is running a special 40% off deal now. Many thanks to Dave Chamness for his presentation on "Galapagos Wildlife". Thanks to Albert Wang for his presentation on "Who is Albert Wang?" Just for future reference: We use the projector that The Coloradoan provides during our meetings, and it requires an HDMI connector if you plan to use your own laptop for your presentation. If you don't have an HDMI connector, you can put your presentation in PDF format on a USB memory stick and play it on the laptop that we use for the club information. There is an active Great Blue Heron colony in the cottonwood on the west side of I25, between Harmony and Kechter. You can park on Harmony or Kechter and walk to get a good view.
