2018-10-09 FCDCC Meeting Notes We met in the Eagle 3 room at the Aztlan Center, 112 E Willow Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524 Please welcome Lindsey, Patrick, Jack, Claudia, Phil and Ken who were visiting our club. Please pay your dues for 2018 to Rich Ernst at the next meeting if you haven't already paid. You can find him at most meetings. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for a spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. Dues are prorated based on the month you join. We discussed raising dues by $5 per year. Please email Monique if you have strong feelings either way. Check out the SIGs (Special Interest Groups); they have been holding lots of meetings and going on lots of outings. Participating in a SIG is an excellent way to develop your skills. Please send your SIG outing schedules to info@fcdcc.com so I can add them to the website. Send your photograph submittals (corrected fix-it-photos, club outings, challenge topics, or your favorite images) to Walter Lyons at photoeditor@fcdcc.com. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send in 3 or fewer pictures for the slideshow, and send them by Sunday evening so Walt has time to create the slideshow. We also accept short videos for the slideshow. November meeting challenge topics: "Scary Stuff" and "Geometry". His slideshow will be available on the website. ebird.org/hotspots is a valuable resource for bird photographers. Thanks to Monique Renee (our next club president) for her presentation on "Who is Monique?". Next month's presentation will be "Portrait Photography" by Monique Renee and Mike Barry. SIG leaders for next year: We need new SIG leaders for: The Post Processing SIG has decided to try private tutoring. Please contact Stephanie, Rich or Harry if you are interested. Paul is investigating getting Non-profit status for our club so we can pay a lower rate to rent city facilities. He met with an attorney, Anna Stevenson, 9/13. It will cost about $400 for the paperwork to file for 501C3 status, and if we ask a lawyer to help us they will charge us several thousand dollars. There was discussion about whether our club should be filing income tax forms, but we didn't have a concensus. All our future coffee meetings will be at the Fort Collins Coffee House on Mason. Future club meetings will be at the Aztlan Center until we find a better location.
