2021-06-08 FCDCC Meeting Notes
About 24 FCDCC members met online using ZOOM software. Please login between 6:00pm and 6:30pm. The social part of the meeting starts at 6:00pm, and the business part of the meeting starts at 6:30pm. Paul will email meeting invitations for the monthly club meetings and the monthly coffee meetings to all club members. If you haven't received your invitation by the day of the meeting, please send an email to info@fcdcc.com, and either Paul or I (Mike Barry) will send you the meeting ID and password.
Pay your dues for 2021 to Dave Chamness (3854 Braidwood Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80524) at the next meeting if you haven't already paid. Annual dues are $25/member with $15 for a spouse and $10 for each additional child under 18. You can now pay your dues ONLINE with PayPal!!!
Since most of our club members have been fully vaccinated, we are starting to discuss meeting in-person again. The Aztlan Center still has openings for August and beyond, $120 for each 3 hour meeting. Ralph and Mike are planning to send an email survey to our club members asking when we should start meeting in person again.
Some of the SIG meetings and outings are being held on ZOOM, but many of them are on hold until the COVID-19 Pandemic is over, and a few outings have been held in person and outside.
Fine Art Photography - Mike Barry
- Tue 6/15 at 6pm, We will be discussing watercolor painting effects, and personal projects, with criticism of current work when requested. We will be meeting using ZOOM.

GoPro/Video - Judy Canon
- Tue 6/22, We will be discussing "Time Lapse Photography" and Pro Tunes(?). Please email Judy Canon by 5/21 if you are interested in joining the group.
Macro - Paul Marcoux
- Paul has been watching the CSU Trial Gardens, and many of the plants are not mature and flowering yet. Contact Paul Marcoux if you wish to participate in the Macro SIG.
Landscape - Ken Eis
Ken is planning an overnight outing to the "Paint Mines" near Colorado Springs. The May project for the Landscape SIG was to take pictures of Horsetooth Falls by 5/21, and present them at a ZOOM meeting on 6/16 @7pm. Please contact Ken Eis if you are interested in the outing or project.

Send your photograph submittals (corrected fix-it-photos, club outings, challenge topics, old and new, or your favorite images) (up to 8 images) to Walter Lyons at walyons@frii.com. Remember to send in before and after versions of your pictures so we can learn about post processing. Please send them by Sunday evening so Walt has time to create the slideshow. We are working on adding videos to the slideshow, but we haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Hailey from Larimer County is looking for pictures of geology, wildlife and open space landscapes in Larimer County for a Naturalist Guide Book to Larimer County. If you would like to donate pictures, the county would love to have them. When Hailey provides more details I will email them to our club members.

SPECIAL SPEAKER FOR OUR JULY MEETING

David duChemin will give his "The Heart of the Photograph" presentation to our club at our regular July club meeting.
David's "calling is to help photographers make photographs that light a spark in people, that communicate clearly, that captivate imaginations and grab the attention and hearts of the people who will see them".
He is a photographer, workshop leader, book author, creative instigator and stand-up comedian.
The Heart of the Photograph is a 90 minutes long with some time for Q&A. During the presentation David will explore 10 powerful ideas about creating more engaging photographs...
- techniques and ways of thinking about creating images
- how to engage human imagination and emotion
- vision and intent
- use of space and time
- creation of depth
- use of point of view
- mood, mystery and storytelling
- creative use of exposure tools, composition...
Everyone who attends his presentation will be given 2 FREE eBooks, and the presentation will be recorded and made available for club members to watch later.
David will be hosting the ZOOM meeting, and Mike will email ZOOM invitations about a week before the presentation.
