We currently have $4167.85 in the club account. Dues are down, but our expenses are down even more.
We will continue to hold our club meetings on ZOOM until further notice due to the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic.
Mike Dunnetts held a FCDCC Planning Meeting in January to decide the club's direction for 2022.
Discussed the SSN attached to the bank account:
- Agreed it is likely that of Ted Sandalund (I didn’t get his last name accurately)
- Determined that Dave Chamness would investigate the process to change the SSN with the bank and the potential impact on the individual who provides his/her SSN
- Determined that Guy would ask Ted if it is his SSN and whether or not he is impacted financially
Discussed potential impact of becoming a non-profit:
- Agreed that the work to do so may be significant, and that we didn’t have a complete understanding of the nature of this work
- Determined we would not pursue this at this time
SIGs:
- Discussed how to encourage more participation, given SIGs are an important part of our club, and acknowledged the significant impact COVID has had on club activities
- Agreed that SIG meeting notices should be sent to the entire membership, thereby encouraging members to participate
- Encouraged SIGs to present the results of outings/activities at our monthly meetings
- Judy stated the Video/Go Pro SIG is in operation, the Mobile SIG has been discontinued
- Discussed the challenges in outings/activities:
-- Recommended that members be fully vaccinated in order to participate in in-person outings/activities
-- Acknowledged that verifying vaccination status was a challenge and that this would be taken off-line for additional discussion; Mike Dunetts to bring a recommendation back to the club
-- Agreed that traditional activities, such as car-pooling to events, would have to be modified to address potential COVD risks
-- Acknowledged that participation is an individual decision, and that members should participate to the extent they feel safe to do so
- Mike Barry agreed to follow-up with Vern Kellie on the Events and Sports SIG
- The Photography 101 SIG leadership and direction is a work in process – more to come later
January Planning Meeting highlights included
- How to encourage more SIG participation and hold outings/activities to the extent it is safely possible to do so
- Encouraging more member presentations (given the expertise we have within the club) vs. use of external speakers
- Discussing the July picnic and agreeing to book a shelter; note the shelter reservation can be cancelled should the COVID situation not improve
- Agreeing to defer a decision on the December meeting/party until later in the year
- Reviewing recent Facebook changes which allow anyone to join our public group, but that require review and approval before being allowed to post
- Confirming that non-paying members will be reminded of their $25 dues in the April/May timeframe, and removed from the club list after two years (i.e. current + past year) of non-payment
